OK, I can read on it, I think some of the Sony's can run a couple of simple games,
But my 600 is a powerful pocket computer (Well nearly), So WHAT ELSE can I do with it ??? There must be something ![]() ![]() |

That's about all (despite note taking and such) as far as the original firmware goes.
I had added PRS+ on my old 505. This added some games and extra settings like a displayable clock (while reading), percentage read (and similar), taking screenshots, etc. The russification hack is so far the closest to PRS+ for the 600. It's adding the clock, screenshot and russian fonts in the menu (instead of netherlands). As far as the Firmware updates from the original manufacturer go, I believe they won't add functionality any time. Instead they try to sell new readers. I really do like my reader and how it works. In so far the original Firmware is ok, allthough there could really some more features be added by Sony itself. |

Yeah, looks like that. On the other side, I think it was meant to exactly provide this function....
![]() Ok, I admit, I would love to have some more "play arounds" on the reader, too. But on the other side, I have a cell where I keep notes in the calendar as reminders, an mp3-player with so much more functions than an ebook-reader could possibly provide.... And if I wanted all in one package, I would probably go with a netbook. But I love my reader for all it is, even if it's "just" a dedicated reader. I still wait for color e-Ink or similar. I love just how long the battery lasts, the form factor..... Ok, enough for now ![]() Thanks for the karma by the way! |

Yeah Mike, Don't get me wrong , I'm happy with what it does, and glad in a way its a dedicated device, But i just thought maybe there was brain power going to waste, and i love dreaming up silly ideas, My friend is a software developer, and like me a Radio Ham, he'll pulls his hair out when I ask him to add this, design that etc ..... I can hear you. There's certainly brain power going to waste. And with the "russification" that's really a step forward. Allthough it's "brought to you" by people like you and me (maybe with some more programming knowledge) and not by Sony.
But all I have seen so far from Sony was bugfixing for the reader (once on the 505) and some more copyright protecting mechanisms on the PSP and the likes. I think I wrote this somewhere else before, but for the big companies, it's about making profit, not making the customer "really, really" happy. Just "a little" happy so he is willing to buy the next product which in turn creates a little more happiness and more profit. (sorry, I don't want to sound sarcastic, but I work for a big company, too). Kinda funny. I never used it but I made a radio ham license about 16 years ago because I wanted one ![]() |

Sorry, this one off topic again.
Hmmm. Sounds funny, but I don't even have an Iphone. ![]() I was wondering if I should take the morse test. If I were to use my license, I would love to go shortwave. Right now my license says I do have the technical knowledge for all 3 possible licenses, but I cannot morse, so I'm kind of restricted ![]() |

So I got a cheap phone that does just that + sms and kept the Treo in the rucksack. Than I got the 600, great reading. And I am getting fed up to juggle all these gadgets. If I just had a nice calendar on my 600, I could give up the Treo, the rucksuck and go to work happy as a bird. The calendar should be at least as classy as the one on the Palm. Dreams, dreams of a simpler world. Beppe P.S. My father-in-law was a RadioHam, used Morse a lot and had really a lot of fun. Friends all over the world. |

You can use it as a weapon. It's got a pretty hard case. Just fling it, tomahawk style at big game next time you're out on safari. If you manage to bag anything, please take a picture--but be sure you're in it, as I think you must have a pretty big brain too!
Good luck!! |

I wouldn't use it as a weapon. It was fairly expensive for "just" reading and it's not a boomerang. So it won't return if you miss your target
