Opening up the prs-505 reader

Hi there.

The lower half of my PRS-505 readers buttons are no longer functional and it's unfortunately not software related as I did virtually everything I could to reset the software and it didn't do anything.

I contacted Sony and I need an "original proof of retail purchase" to get it fixed. As I got it online through E-Bay I did not get a receipt with it, only the general brown paper Sony stuff about waranty.

Now I am wondering if anybody has experience with opening the 505 reader so I can have a look at it to determine if it's a small break in the mainboard thats causing my problems.

So, anybody??

Gr.

William

The service manual for the PRS-505 is posted in the Sony PRS-505 section, Dev Corner. It has an exploded view of the disassembled 505.

Also check out this link: http://openinkpot.org/wiki/Prs505 or here http://www.flickr.com/photos/2172951...7603454047408/

There may be other locations.

Good luck,
