Calibre metadata search problem

I've installed and setup KOReader on my Pocketbook Inkpad 4 and wirelessly transferred several epubs from Calibre. When I ran Calibre metadata search for one of the book titles I've installed (just as an exercise before using the function for a more advanced search) it resulted in "No items" yet I'm reading this particular book in KOReader and it appears with all the other books on the KOReader Library screens.

As an experiment, I left the search field blank and selected "Browse titles" which resulted in a list of what I assume were titles but they were all in a foreign language I don't recognize. I get a similar foreign language result when I "Browse tags". "Browse by series" is blank, yet I have loaded some series books and have selected series title to appear with their respective book titles in KOReader settings, which they do.

Can anyone advise why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

The Calibre metadata search and browse by tags/series features list search results based on the .metadata.calibre file, which is supplied by Calibre and should contain the metadata of the files transferred. In your case, there seems to be a disconnect between the data in the metadata file and the actual books transferred. However, I'm not sure what could be the cause.

Have you tried doing a wired transfer and see if that works correctly? If it does, the issue must be somewhere in the wireless set-up.

Do you have to have found the Calibre library? Is it pre-selected to the wireless dest dir?

Calibre > Search Settings > Manage libraries > Rescan disk for calibre libraries

Thank you both for your responses to my problem.

JimmXinu,

When I run:
Calibre > Search Settings > Manage libraries > Rescan disk for calibre libraries,

KOReader tells me it's scanning: "/mnt/ext1" and "/mnt/ext1/books" and the scan results are: "found 2 libraries with 122 books"

Just so you know what my actions have been when I first started with KOReader:

After installing KOReader, I created a folder named "books" on "/mnt/ext1" and I set that as the inbox folder in
Calibre > Wireless settings > Set inbox folder.

I then wirelessly loaded 70 books from Calibre and that is the count I get when I total the number of books listed on my KOReader Home pages.

I don't understand why the Rescan disk for calibre libraries returned the results that it did.

My understanding is the Calibre koplugin looks for the driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre files to find where your Calibre uploaded books are.

I'd uncheck the "/mnt/ext1" library and see if it removes the extras you don't want.

I would speculate that perhaps the KOReader install came with a small example library? Or just the metadata for one?

I have unchecked the "/mnt/ext1" leaving only the "/mnt/ext1/books" but the search ignores that and only returns results for "/mnt/ext1".

I reset my ereader to factory settings, set it up again and reinstalled KOReader. After configuring KO again, I wirelessly added the same books from Calibre. The metadata search function now seems to be working as it should.
