Hi, I have a Kindle and I downloaded a book from the library. It's the first time I've downloaded one, so I don't know how it works. It has ADE DRM and says I can transfer it to my e-reader. How can I transfer it to my Kindle? Thank you very much.

You cannot transfer it unless you remove the DRM and convert it to AZW3 or KFX. Kindles can't read epubs.

I don't know what country you are in. In the US most libraries have a way to read library books on a kindle, but you have to choose the kindle format when you check out the book. If you choose the epub version, it will not work. I don't know how it is in other countries.

Call your library and ask them for help. They can walk you through the procedure. Or go to the library and take your Kindle and ask for help.

Amazon format library ebook loans are only available in the USA and there approximately 72% of library ebooks are available in Amazon format (a mix of books that are not made available in Amazon format and libraries that do not offer Amazon format loans).
And just to make it more fun, Amazon published ebooks are not available for library loans. Perhaps Amazon does not want competition for their subscription library? |

Thank you all very much. I'm not in the US, and removing the DRM isn't an option because the book is on loan. I assumed ADE meant the book was in PDF format, and since Kindle reads PDFs, it would be easy. For now, I'll read it on my phone. On the other hand, Amazon is a dictator, but I love my Kindle, so no way. I assume there must be a law in the US requiring them to collaborate with libraries, because otherwise, I don't understand how books can be borrowed there. Thanks again.

But it's a library book, so has DRM and is only borrowed. Thus jailbreaking, DRM free and KOReader are all irrelevant. |

Actually, there are some Overdrive eBooks that come without DRM. For example, BAEN eBooks. Those could be converted to KF8 and loaded on a Kindle.

And here in Ireland they assume everyone is using a phone or tablet. The Librarian didn't know about Kobo or Kindle. Also the stupid Library Wifi seems to only work on tablets and laptops and uses your Library card. Doesn't work on Kindle, Kobo or the Android eink.
The ADE method here is only to read on a laptop in ADE (according to Librarian). The phone/tablet users are expected to use apps. OTOH the library is totally free, in person, or online (ebooks, newspapers, magazines, audiobooks) if you prove local residency (as in a physical address, not status). And here they don't even use ADE. It's proprietary apps only. Forget reading a library loan on eink, unless you have an Android eink device and install the app on it.
