I love my calibre catalogs with all the descriptions and meta data for all my books.
I get most of my books from Amazon which I read on my kindle. I used to download all my books to my PC, transfer them into the Calibre library via USB and create the catalog in Calibre and then copy the catalog into the Kindle. But now that Amazon has cracked down on download and transfer via USB, I don't know how to get my books into Calibre such that I can create a catalog. At this point, I just want the catalog. Downloading the book to calibre in order to read it is a lower priority. If I can just get the title, description and my personal tags which have my rating and whether or not I've read the book) I'll live with that. |

Without actual files you can create an empty book and fill in the data manually.

That sounds like it'll work. I wonder if there's a more efficient way to do it? A way to download the meta data to Calibre? Or perhaps some other mechanism?
Life was so easy when I could just download the book.... Sigh.... ![]() |

You can use your Kindle to get your ebooks in calibre (unless it's a Fire). See here, method 3:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums//s...35&postcount=1 As to downloading metadata for empty books, I guess you can do that if you put in the Amazon ASIN. Last edited by Sirtel; 06-03-2025 at 02:53 PM. Reason: typo |

I did discover that Add Books -> Add from ISBN makes it a bit easier since it's only 1 field I have to enter and then the download metadata gets the rest.
