Error message from old wallabag / KOReader?

I have a Kobo Libra Colour. Latest firmware.

I previously had tried KOReader / NickelMenu with a wallabag app, probably wallabako but I can't remember for sure. I removed KOReader, NickelMenu, etc and did a factory reset months ago. No issues until today.

Today I was trying to read a big PDF file and it was opening slowly so I figured I'd try KOReader again. I used this install script and everything seemed to install correctly.

However, now I get the following error message at the bottom of my device on the main menu. I looked on the device and don't see any files related to wallabag. I even did a factory reset and started from scratch. Nothing seems to fix it.

Is there any way to get rid of this error?

Have you tried connecting your Kobo to WiFi before starting KOReader? The example.com connection seems a bit weird since that is supposed to be used for illustrative purposes in documents.

Yes, I'm connected to Wifi. Just tried again, opening KOReader, exiting and I get the same error when I get back to the main Kobo menu.

I would suggest deleting the .adds/koreader folder and copying the koreader directory from the .zip file into place. I'd suggest downloading koreader-kobo-v2025.04.zip from the KOReader Full Moon release page.

OK, I tried reinstalling KOReader as per your recommendation and using the kobo version of the Full Moon release but that didn't help. KOReader worked fine but I still see the error.

So I did another factory reset and the error still pops up right away, even before I choose a language for the device.

I also see something about "wallabag starting" flash quickly before the error is displayed.

See attached pic.

Please note that if you do not use either the manual factory reset or the Factory reset from the Developer Options menu, you are not doing a true factory reset so quite a few bits and bobs will survive. At this point, I would suggest a manual factory reset. See Manual reset Kobo Libra Colour on Kobo's site for the procedure.

Great to hear that you were helped even if my help was the equivalent of "hit the patient in the head with an axe".
