Problem with KoboTouch: Duplicated book

Hi,

I've got my KoboTouch driver configured so books which are resent to the device overwrite the old book, not to create a new book (see attached image). Today, however, I've resent the book to the device and, although it has given me the warning that I could lose Annotations and such, it has been sent as a new file (before ejecting the device, it has complained about duplicated books).

Do I have to do something special for this option to take place? Isn't "Send to device" enough? I think it worked in KoboTouchExtended.

Your original book is probably in EPUB format and the one you sent now was sent in KEPUB. That will cause duplication.

No, I only send kepub formats. Meaning, I have epub in my library and, before, I sent them through KoboTouchExtended and, now, through KoboTouch as kepub. If it's going or it has gone as epub, it hasn't been with my knowledge.

I found that Calibre 8 did not send books to MyBooks folder which was in my old Driver config
(I am not sure when/who made that change back when, but it probably was me when I spotted the number of books landing in the root )

I've never had success re-transferring a book to Kobo. I always delete the book (and if I do it from within Calibre I eject and reconnect afterwards), then transfer fresh.

I'll check because I'm sure I've done no changes in the last 2 months (that's the difference between both books)

Is your save to device template the same in the calibre 8 KoboTouch driver as it was in the calibre <=7 KoboTouchExtended driver? I seem to recall that changing the path prevented seeing the book as the same book.

I've checked and that is the problem. But the issue has been the migration from KoboTouchExtended to KoboTouch. Before using the Extended driver I used KoboTouch and, back those days, I had a different template. I switched to Extended and, after some time, I changed to a new template for sending books. This happened more than 4 years ago. When Extended has been disabled and I've needed to use KoboTouch again, instead of using the template I had in the Extended driver, it has keeped which I defined years ago. My bad for not checking the transitions has been fine (you would think that, after so much time, I wouldn't trust on a smooth transition).

No, it wasn't but, as I hadn't touched that driver in years, I didn't think it will keep those data instead of collecting them from the driver I had been using. Well, as I've said, now to search a laptop with all drivers or trying to find where that configuration is still stored in calibre (if possible).

Configuration found, so I'll recover my original template. Thank you to @theducks and you for making me check this. I wouldn't have thought about it.

I was bitten by the two drivers not sharing the save template when I was trying out the KTE driver. Instead of copy/pasting from the KoboTouch driver config, I retyped the path and, of course, committed a typo. It gave me some fun time removing and re-adding the books I'd sent.

I feel the pain.... In my case, books are not going to be resent at this moment, I'll see later. As I've found where the settings are stored, I've rechecked everything but... who knows.
