How to add a missing thumbnail in Linux file manager?

Hello everyone!

I am unable to add a missing thumbnail, as shown in the attached screen capture, in Linux (Ubuntu) file manager. As you can see, the book "Cheryl Strayed - Wild" doesn't have a thumbnail.

I am trying to add it with Calibre E-book editor with dropdown menu (Tools --> Add cover). But I am not sure if that is the right way to accomplish it.

Does anyone have the magic trick for me? Thanks in advance for your effort to help me

I don't know why, but I couldn't see the attachment in my openingpost. So I reply to myself with the attachment... Hope there's someone who can help me. And I also didn't see an "edit" option in my openingpost, so that's also a reason I reply to myself.

If you're using the calibre library, the metadata in it has precedence over the metadata you're editing with the ebook-editor. In that case, change the setting in the editor : preferences / integration with calibre / update metadata embedded (there are quite a few threads on this subject, search in this forum).

If your book is not in the calibre library (i.e. you're editing it with the stand-alone "ebook-edit"), then maybe your cover file has some error. Try to check the epub (menu tools / check book)

Rather than the ebook editor, try using the metadata edit function. Download a cover you like. That will put the new cover into the book folder in the library, but not into the book file itself. So then to get the cover into the book file: run Polish, or use the Embed Metadata plugin.
