Looking for Recommendations for apps that sync epub reading progress across devices

I have a self hosted Calibre library and am looking for a reader that has OPDS support and will sync reading progress across apple devices (iPads specifically).

I've tried Pocketbook and while I can access my library it does not sync reading progress back to my Calibre library.

I've seen a few recommendations for Bookfusion, but the cost is off putting, as well as having to sync my library to their cloud.

MapleRead looks intriguing but before buying I thought I'd see if there were other options.

Eventually, I'd like to add an e-ink device to the mix. I know this is basically trying to replicate whispersync, but hoping to ween myself off of Amazon.

Is this a bridge too far?

The calibre content server does this on all devices, though its not always useable on e-ink device's experimental browsers.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I am looking for a non-browser option so that I have the option to use offline.

Wait, you want an option that syncs reading progress across devices...offline? How do you envision that working?

Probably switching wifi off after syncing. And again on after reading. To me, it seems very inconvenient, but one man's bread and so on.

I use an old phone for reading these days it has no mobile connection so only syncs positions when I am connected to wifi. I think the OP would be doing the same an IPad with no internet connection when on the go. On android I use coolreader for sync. Another app that supports is koreader as coolreader seems to have been abandoned.

https://github.com/buggins/coolreader

https://github.com/koreader/koreader

I hope the devs of koreader someday add support for Calibre progress sync directly so that there is no need to run a 2nd app for syncing progress instead it is done with Calibre

Quick update, I took the plunge and purchased MapleReader. Pretty happy with it so far, it syncs reading progress, notes, and highlights across both my iPads. Downside is I have to remember to manually sync, it doesn’t seem to do it automatically.

At some point I will add an ereader to the mix using KOReader, that will be the big test.

Correct, my devices are not always connected to a network that has access to my library.
