Turning a plugboard on and off selectively?

Basically when using save-to-disk for a given format I would like to be able to choose between using my plugboard that puts the book series into the title metadata, and not using a plugboard at all.

I'm not sure about a simple way to accomplish this, I dont want to have to delete my plugboard every time I want default save-to-disk behavior and creating a duplicate library just to not have that plugboard in it seems excessively clunky.

I have a Kobo so It supports Series (the name)
But here is my series index fix (add or not) to the title

I have a working plugboard template already, I think I copied the syntax from one of your posts tbh, I just dont want to always use it when saving a format to disk. Only sometimes.

Sometimes I want to save an epub like this:

(with plugboard) The Lord of the Rings 1 - The Fellowship of the Ring

(without plugboard) The Fellowship of the Ring

This is what I want for title metadata btw, not filename. I just dont see a way to temporarily enable or disable my plugboard without outright deleting it.

If the reason to turn off the plugboard can be determined from the book metadata then use a General Program Mode template to check and do the appropriate thing. You could go as far as to add a Yes/No custom column to books to tell the plugboard template what to do.

If it can't be determined from the metadata then you are stuck with what you are currently doing.
