Question Kindle Scribe Questions

So I'm new here and just hacked my 1st gen kindle scribe. I guess my biggest question is other than KOReader what other applications/modifications are there for this device?

KOReader really is the big one; there are currently no Kindle hacks targeting the Scribe specifically, so basically nothing using the pen.

You can have a look at NiLuJe's hacks in the Developer section for more hacks, but many of those are no longer relevant as they were developed a while back when the official firmware was very barebone. Much of the functionality those hacks provide (e.g. custom fonts, book cover as screensaver) are available in the standard firmwares nowadays.

Hey thanks for the info! Well I guess I'll leave it jailbroken and wait to see if anyone does anything cool with it. I'm hoping for some text based adventure games or something.

Since it's binaries, it'll minimally need recompiled to use hardfloat on Kindles running 5.16.3 or higher.

hi, I have a new Scribe (2nd gen) with a version that JB does not support, can you recommend to me how to disable auto-update on 1st load and later so that my version is not the newest and I can wait for the next JB less that after the update, thank you!

I was surprised by your statement that your Scribe is on a firmware version which is not supported by the jailbreak, as Amazon has not patched the exploit used by WinterBreak yet, so all recent Kindles can currently be jailbroken.

I looked at your post history and saw that you tried to jailbreak your Scribe using LanguageBreak. This is an older jailbreak method which indeed doesn't work on newer firmwares. The method you want to use is WinterBreak, which will work on your FW version. Just make sure you use the latest version of the hotfix, as it includes bug fixes specifically for the new Scribe.

Would alpine linux work on it?

From

https://github.com/schuhumi/alpine_kindle

Given:

"alpine linux extension and many others probably don't work properly after fw >=5.13.6 as new fw versions need hf binaries . Try removing extension files and reinstalling KUAL ."

Thank you!
