syncing notes between devices (and with a server) without Onyx

shot in the dark, but some of you are very technical and have dived into Boox's internals enough that you might be able to answer.

in the latest versions of Android you can get on these devices (12 and up, I think), even with root permissions I don't think it's possible for an app to get permissions on another app's internal data (please correct me if I'm wrong), but what I intended to explore was doing it with Syncthing or another similar app. with Root Explorer I can get into /storage/self/primary/Android/data/com.onyx.android.note/files, but it appears there's nothing in there.

I believe a few months ago someone on Reddit was looking at changing the endpoint which the Notes app uses to sync. they freaked out, deleted their post and never came back, lol.

basically the end goal I want is multi-device sync of notes without having to involve Onyx's servers in the process. anyone have ideas?

I don't have a note-like device or use the stock Onyx.
Did you look in /data/data/com.onyx.android.note
Did you check for databases there? (Not files.)

yes, I can see the databases in the "db" directory in there using Root Explorer, but e.g. SyncThing can't, even when running as root.

If you're syncing notes on two devices you'd really like it that if you add notes to Book A on one device and add notes to Book B on another you retain both. You need to add some logic to the merge/sync.

Any update on this?

I am going to attempt the steps described by leader_montanus at the end of this thread, which should take care of the handnotes by tricking Onyx into thinking that DropBox is still installed, but using SyncThing instead:

Perhaps a similar trick could be used for books reading statuses and books notes?
