Amazon cover bug and KOReader

Hi There,

The other day i downloaded Calibre and got some prompts that asked me about settings for an amazon cover bug for kindle, I accepted the settings and got a folder on my kindle called the same.

Now ive jailbroken the kindle (paperwhite pw2) and got koreader on it. Unfortunately none of my covers for ky books are loading on koreader.. im wondering if the caliber prompt changed where my kindle looks for covers, made the folder and koreader isnt getting the memo?

Some other reason ?

How can I debug this?

Cheers

Nope all the amazon cover bug does is restore cover thumbnails for books on the device that the amazon firmware deletes of replaces with generic images.

KOReader displays ePub. The cover bug effects Kindle eBooks when you have WiFi on. KOReader has nothing at all to do with the cover bug.

Last time I looked, KOReader handled way more than just ePub format ebooks. A quick look at the Github page shows PDF, DjVu, CBT, CBZ, EPUB, FB2, Mobi, DOC, RTF, HTML, CHM, TXT plus .zip versions of some such as TXT files.

OTOH, if you are sending ePub files, you might need to embed metadata using either Polish or ModifyEpub to embed the covers.

But how many Mobi would be on a Kindle that handles KF8/KFX and is jailbroken? I would not many or none.

One person I used to work with loved KOReader since they had an ebook collection that was more of a junk heap downloaded from dubious sites. It was a mix of mobi, fb2, epub, text and ghod alone knows what else. I stopped giving them any help since we could not find any agreement on their premise that ebook piracy was a victimless crime.

Ok, should I shut the topic and move to the KOReader forum?

Is there any resource on file structure that KOReader can work with for finding covers?

Except for the 2024 Kindles where cover thumbnail directory is not accessible.

Is there anyway to configure Calibre to send covers to somewhere that KOreader can find them? On the device I was able to tell the book to set a custom image but it seems like quite a labor intensive way to do it. I've seen some things about SDR's but i'm confused.

Have you thought of asking in the KOReader forum for assistance in setting up calibre, koReader and kindle?

I suspect that you are more liable to find an answer in the KOReader forum. This assumes that you have either been using Polish or ModifyEpub to embed the covers and other metadata or are saving the books using Save to Disk before copying them to your Kindle. Remember that by default, calibre does not modify the ebook files in it's library.

But isn't Calibre supposed to embed metadata when sending to device?

If the OP is using the Folder Device interface plugin, yes. However, it does not appear that the OP is using that functionality.
