Calibre-server scan for changes?
Hello, I recently set up the server version on Ubuntu.
Works great! One problem I have is the server not updating on it's own. I'll explain, I still have the Windows version which I use to add books to my library 'sometimes'. What I do is edit the epub metadata on a Windows PC, then I'll use the save PC to add the books to Calibre. I don't always have to edit the metadata so I also add those books right in the server. The books added through Windows don't show in the server library (yes, it's the same physical location on both) unless, and until, I restart the server service. I've been through the documentation as best I can but I can't see an option to "scan for changes" of the library (like Plex for example). Is there a way to have the server automatically update when the library is changed? |

Restart the server is the simplest, though really what you are doing is pretty unsafe you cannot share a calibre library between windows and linux directly like that. Keep your library in linux only and on your windows pc access the server and add your books through the server interface.

I recently figured out how to reload the database on Calibre-Web automatically on my Raspberry Pi and made some notes. Maybe this will help you: https://blog.pgajos.com/Homelab-4-Ca...atabase-reload

Simple!! That's amusing. To implement that means you either scan every file's metadata in the library every time any request is received or you get the kernel to maintain a giant list of files and notify you every time one is changed.

Oh and let me repeat, DO NOT share your library between windows and linux like this, you WILL lose data.
