Space being lost before italicised words

I've just sideloaded a book to my Libra H2O with Calibre. I use the KoboTouchExtended plugin and send books as kepubs. When I read the book on the Kobo, all the italicised words have no space between them and the preceding non-italicised word. When I load the epub into Sigil and check, there are spaces before all the italics, and the Sigil preview screen renders the spaces correctly, as does the Calibre ebook viewer.

Any suggestions on a fix? I've tried several different fonts (Rakuten Serif, Georgia, Amasis) and the problem is there with all of them.

Calibre is v7.23, KoboTouchExtended v3.7.2, Kobo FW v4.38.23171, all I think the latest available.

Screenshot of the text in Sigil and what I see on the Kobo screen:

Go back to the previous version of the KoboTouch Extended. The latest version is buggy.

Thanks. I went back to 3.7.0 of the plugin, and deleted the book from the Kobo and sent it again. The spaces before italics now display correctly.

I noticed in Calibre today that 3.7.3 KoboTouchExtended plugin was released yesterday. I updated to it, sent one of the problem books again, and the problem I was seeing with 3.7.2 has been fixed.

Was this only with kepubs? I never saw this issue, but kepub generation is off on my Kobo driver.

3.7.3 is actually 3.7.0 with a new version number so everyone can update to it.

Ha, when I had this issue, I didn't know about the KTE issue, so I just went into the css of the book I was reading and did this:
Code:
i {padding-left: .8em}
it was a rough fix job, but it did the trick.

And that causes funky spacing and when the eBook uses <em>, that won't work.

But now you can delete all of those funky KePub and send them again to your Kobo.
