Calibre can't see new Kobo Clara BW

I have an existing Kobo Clara 2E and use Calibre. Currently running Calibre 7.7.

I have bought a Kobo Clara BW for my daughter, when I connect the BW to my computer Calibre does not show the "Send books to Device" icon.

I need to be able to load books onto my Clara 2E AND the Clara BW.

Please help and explain like I'm 5 what I should do.

Does your PC see the Clara BW?

I believe the later ve4rsions of Calibre work with the CBW but if I'm wrong you can try having the driver plugin support newer hardware.

Go to preferences in calibre. Click on Plugins. Search for kobo on the search bar and work your way down to the Kobotouchextened plugin. Click on customize plugin and then the Metadata, on device and extended tab. Select the Attempt to support newer firmware. Select the OK button, restart Calibre and you should be good.

How do I know if my computer see's the BW?
I tried the preferences info you gave and followed your instructions but it didn't work.

This is what I clicked on in Preferences see attached.

Sorry, it's the one BELOW the highlighted one that I clicked on.

If your computer mounts the Kobo properly, you should see it as a drive in This PC. On my Windows 11 computer, the drive is called KOBOeReader (G:). The letter & : after the name is the drive letter.

The likely cause of your problem is using an old version of calibre that does not support the Clara BW (calibre 7.7.0 was released in early March, 2024 while the Clara BW was released in April, 2024. So update your calibre install.

I'd suggest downloading and installing the latest calibre preview: calibre-64bit-7.22.101.msi.
