Converting an azw3 file that’s all images to pdf
I have an azw3 file that I’ve unpacked, and the contents of the mobi7 folder is images and similar for the mobi8 folder (there is a epub file, oebps folder, meta-inf folder and mimetype file).
The images in the mobi7/images folder and mobi8/oebps/images folder are the same. What’s the best way to get this from either original azw3 or the internal epub file into a pdf without having calibre adjust and margins, contents etc? I tried converting the azw3 file using calibre with essentially default settings but every second page as empty/blank. I want to read this on kobo, and the reason for pdf over epub is because at least KOReader can crop the margins down on the pdf. ![]() |

use the kindleunpack plugin to get an epub from the azw3.
you can then use https://github.com/bust4cap/epub2cbz-gui to turn that epub into a cbz with proper formatting. as far as i know cropping should work fine for a cbz |

Thanks - that worked and produced a similar output to kindlecomicconverter.
The main difference was KCC I had to chose the folder full of images as input and I got an epub as output, and epub2cbz obviously used the epub file from the azw3 and got a cbz out. Do you know how they differ and when you'd use one over the other? |

i dont think it really matters most of the time. its just personal preference and how your reading device/app handles those specific filetypes.
when converting epub to cbz, you automatically get most of the metadata with it inside of a comicinfo.xml file that can get used by reading apps. when converting just images to epub (with kcc for example) youd have to add any metadata yourself, because that info wasnt there before |
