database disk image is malformed

Went to save the metadata on a book and got the following and got it while attempting to exit the program or add a new book. I'm running calibre on an Intel iMac with Sequoia 15. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Thank you.

A couple of questions. Where is your calibre library stored? Local disk? NAS? Cloud Storage?

If you are using local storage, you could try restoring the database. Click on the library icon => Library Maintenance => Restore database. You may want to delete/move the metadata.db file in the root of the library folder before doing this.

Otherwise see: I am getting errors with my calibre library on a networked drive/NAS? in the calibre FAQs.

Thank you for the help. That worked. I wonder how the database got corrupted in the first place and how do I keep it from happening again. My calibre library is on my internal disk.
