Clara BW Lighting slightly darker at top?

Howdy!

Due to amazon's recent change to restrict download and transfer via USB on the 2024 kindles, I finally decided to try something else out and got a Clara BW.

So far, I quite like it, and am enjoying the greater flexibility it offers.

One small potential issue - I notice that the front light seems a bit darker along the top edge of the screen. (I actually noticed this on the 2022 and 2024 kindle basics when I tried those, so maybe its just the way these are, though my 2013 PW2 is evenly lit)

So, my question is, is this fairly normal for the Clara BW, or does it indicate a defect with the device? If they're all like that, then no big deal, I'll keep it. But if it is a defect, I'll exchange it.

It's fairly normal for most eink readers. Some units have even lighting, some don't and it's pure luck which one you get.

For example, my Sage is very uneven, my Libra 2 is perfectly even. And there have been posters here who have an even Sage and an uneven Libra.

Personally I've never bothered to exchange any ereader because the frontlight was uneven. The second device might be even worse.
