SOLVED! - Two Books Resisting Library Order
I am using calibre 7.20, Windows 11. I just added 4 books. When I sort the library view, two books insist on sorting (series) as if the tweak were set to 'strictly_alphabetic'. The title even insists on maintaining 'strictly_alphabetic' and the metadata insists that for this book, 'strictly_alphabetic' is correct. See attached for examples. I have done the following.

Removed books and readded books after a restart. Switched tweak from library_order to strictly_alphabetic, everything acts correctly in strictly_alphabetic. I switched back to library_order and those two books still maintain the series sort as if the library is set to strictly_alphabetic. I even ran library maintenance for lack of anything else to try. It was fine.

After 15 years of using this software, I'm confused. Any suggestions?

Is the language of the books set to something other than English? That would change how articles are processed.

Also try retyping the title and series to be sure that the displayed characters are not some strange unicode lookalikes.

Solved! Thank you, those two books imported with Italian listed in the metadata. I appreciate the help.
