I encounter difficulties when images are embedde in epub files ![]() - I can easily zoom in/out on texts zones - but I can never zoom on an image Is this a as-is feature or am I missing something ? Example : nordic detective novel (eg Norferville), plan of the region is depicted. I can not zoom in on the plan. I have already encuntered that several times. You can zoom on images in a kepub but not in an epub.

You need to use kepub instead of epub. There are several ways to turn your epub into kepub:
1. Use the KoboTouch Extended Driver in Calibre, which converts your epubs to kepubs on the fly while sending them to your Kobo 2. Use Kepubify |

ok, how do you zoom in on kepub? I have never been able to get it to zoom in on fiction books that have maps or other images, purchased directly from kobo. I thought there was just no zoom function at all unless viewing a pdf. What is the gesture? I've tried double tapping, and pinching apart.

Just pinch zoom. Kepup has two methods to display images. if the image is alone with no surrounding text, it will be diplayed in full page, and will pinch zoom directly. (Alternatively, if you open open the controls, there will be an icon that looks like 4 compass points that will expand into image zoom and rotate controls.) If the image is not displayed by itself, when you pinch zoom, it will open into Image View, there will be visible 'Image Viewer' header, and controls to zoom/rotate the image. You can also double tap the image to open in the image viewer, *but* I find the double tab finicky, and and up flipping pages as often as getting the result I wanted. Note that if you disable the pinch zoom text size gesture, this will also prevent pinch zoom from working with images. |
