How to refresh annotations_count?

5.6 included a fix for the deleted annotations appearing in the count. It works, but now I need to refresh the GUI with bulk metadata edit to update my composite #annot column after adding/removing an annotation or bookmark:

program: 
	if annotation_count() >0 then 'True'
	fi

Is there a better way to update the column cache?

It didn't work at the time I posted it, but after a restart now editing a metadata cell in the book list will refresh it.

wheeeeee, inspired by this I guess I just made my first own template in Calibre, lol.

program:  annotation_count();

... displays exactly what I wanted: the number of highlights I made in a book, in a custom column!

No, but I make a lot of annotations to mark parts that I liked.

well, it's been more than a year since I last charged my kindle, i guess... reading on lappy can be distracting but it's long become my preferred reading device.

FWIW, I've switched away from a composite column and instead use this saved search:

template:"program: annotation_count()#@#:n:>=1"

I'm unsure whether this is faster or slower - there's sometimes a slight but noticeable lag when executing the search.

That search should have no performance advantage over a composite, other than it being on demand vs on display. To be faster you would need to use a caching python template.
