Newbie question, removing headers and footers
Hello, I'm gobsmacked at the versatility of this program, which I discovered only a couple of hours ago. My question is simple, how do I strip out page numbers and titles (book, author) on every page of a PDF so they don't appear in the middle of the epub text.

Regular expressions. You'll need to review the text manually anyway, as some paragraphs are getting split across the pages between the sentences.

There are a couple of good REGEX tutorials here on Mobielread
(That is how I got started)
Another tip is grab a REGEX cheatsheet ( PCRE, the version Calibre uses does not support every one, but that is not a hindrance)

Converting from PDF to any other format generally produces a shitty result. PDF files are best used as they are. They're not really suitable for converting.

You should also post a sample of the "page numbers and titles" code and we can probably help you form the regex to delete them.

In view of the difficulties, I looked harder and found an ePub version of the book, which is perfect.
