how to enter recovery on Go 10.3?
I gather there is some kind of complicated "hold the button, press it some number of times" method for getting into recovery but I can't figure out how it's supposed to work and documentation is scarce. (I goofed while attempting to unroot my tablet for the 4.0 beta update and need to "start over.")

If you are still rooted, you can use this app from f-droid. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/io.g...1309.powerapp/ |

I'm not a fan of goofy things (because I'm not adept at them). Unless I'm watching the booting over UART I never get the timing right even when I know exactly what it's looking for. I presume that you never get ADB at any point? If you had it enabled you might be able to get a quick command in and stop it. Half broken can be the biggest challenge. Totally broken gets you EDL mode. If playing with buttons doesn't get you anywhere you can open this up and look for EDL test points. In the past these have been blatantly obvious, but my Poke5 you practically needed a microscope to find them. In any case, I'm interested to see what's inside! Be very careful opening large devices. They are much more susceptible to twisting damage than a 6" ereader. |

yeah, never get ADB. I may try JTAGging it next. for the future: when an incremental update comes and I'm rooted, what is the best way to proceed? does writing the original bootloaders back just not actually fix it? I've already done a full update while rooted and it was completely fine (just unrooted me).

Sounds like fun. Got a 1.8V compatible interface? I've never found a (convenient) JTAG port. I'd settle for just the EDL test point and the UART.
Incremental updates are tricky just by themselves. If you modified anything then the SHA256s don't match and it won't update. TLDR: For heavy modding it's probably safer to just wait for a full update which will kill your mods but at least it will go in cleanly. We want photos! ![]() Edit: Did you try an EDL cable yet? I forgot if I mentioned that. Last edited by Renate; 12-23-2024 at 09:31 AM. |

Yes. Google it, make it, use it. We're talking black and green.
It needs a software check to actually work. My Poke5 and Go6 always had. I just re-tested my Poke3 and apparently an update added it too. If you screwed up your abl xbl this might not work. Edit: I never deep-dove to find out where the test is. I just did. It is in xbl. Last edited by Renate; 12-25-2024 at 05:35 PM. |
