Sideload firmware
After resetting my old Kobo Touch N905C, I attempted to update the firmware. Downloaded the appropriate firmware and, after unzipping the firmware in the .kobo folder, it froze the Kobo. I couldn’t even bring it back to its factory setting. I had to install an image just to get it back to its original setting, with firmware dated 2012.
Did I miss a step? Are there any tips and tricks that I could apply to update the firmware? Thanks in advance. |

Are you sure you chose the correct Kobo Touch firmware? There are 3 different Kobo Touch models to choose from.
How old was the old firmware? If you update directly from 2012 to 2024 firmware, it may cause problems. You might get better results by updating the firmware multiple times, e.g. from 2012 to 2015, 2018, 2021, 2024 to reduce the odds of making too large of a firmware jump at once. |
