How to create a column to visualize if a book in on my e-reader when disconnected?

Hi,

I have a Kobo Libra H2O.
When i connect it to the pc via a cable and when i start calibre, a column "On Device" appears with a green check mark next to the books that are in the library and found in the Kobo.

I would like to have the same information when the Kobo is not connected.
I have created for now a column "On Kobo" (lookup name: #onkobo; type: text, column shown in the tag browser), so that when the Kobo is connected, i can select the books which are idenfied as "On device", and then i manually update their metadata (column "On Kobo", i write "yes"). And then when the device is disconnected, i can easily what i have transfered to the Kobo.

But the process is manual, i think i managed to automate this in the past but i don't recall how. If it matters, i have the Kobo Utilities plugin installed

The KoboUtilies can store reading status and progress and I think prompts to create the columns. Then, curiously, the Bookmark option can read that infro from the kobo to the columns. No doubt there are other methods.

Thanks for commenting. Where is the bookmark option please? Couldn't find it :-(

[EDIT] nevermind, i found an alternative solution with the Reading List plugin. IT detects which books I have on the Kobo and can set a marker in a dedicated column. Problem solved!

The bookmark option is in Kobo Utilities, about the 4th item on list: 'Store/Restore current bookmark'. It actually reads current Kobo reading status and progress, or sets it from the columns.
That is setup in Kobo Utilities Options: Profiles tab, then at Custom Columns.
There are four
Current Reading Location Column
Percent Read Column
Rating Column (this can use existing rating without the # prefix)
Last Read Column

But there are indeed other ways.

You can use the Reading List plugin to automatically add or remove from your On Device column so you can see what books on on your Kobo.

Kobo Utilities will only show what books you are reading and have read. Reading List is what's wanted. It will do what the OP wants.

I have an enumerated column, Kobo Status. It has several values: Send to Device, Sideloaded, Fanfiction, and Kobo Store.

Instead of sending books directly to device, I add them to a custom Reading List. The plugin changes the column to 'Send to Device.' This list is synced to the device upon connect.

After the book is on device (with Kobo sideloads, this requires disconnecting to let it import, then re-connecting to Calibre), I run a custom Action Chain, "Add/Update Book on Device." (It uses the experimental chain variations feature.)

This sets the column to the appropriate value, and also runs a couple of additional tasks (setting reader font, uploading the covers, etc):

In the end, this is what it looks like in my Calibre library.

I should note that the square brackets are for the purpose of sorting within a user category.
