How to enable cloud sync for reading statistics?

I've been trying for a while now to enable cloud sync of reading statistics. What am I doing wrong?

Tools > Reading statistics > Settings > Cloud sync

That gets me to the "Cloud sync settings" UI, with one button: "Add service". I tap that, and then the + to add a service (FTP). Once that is set up, I can tap on the service, which will let me browse the files in the cloud.

Now what? I see no way to say "yes, please use this service, or this particular folder". All I can do is browse my cloud.

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm using the latest version, on Android.

Okay, I tried adding Dropbox as well, and that worked. It seems syncing of reading stats doesn't support FTP. Is this documented anywhere?

blargh. Thank you for posting this follow up, I just spent the last hour trying to figure out why I couldn't get ftp to work for stats syncing.

Not sure if it is documented.

It works over Dropbox and generic webdav.

Yep! Found an updated post with Dropbox instructions with a non expiring token. But I would have kept struggling with ftp otherwise

I have not tried ftp but I did use WebDAV with nextcloud. I created a folder for my stats in nextcloud and tried to use that but for some reason did not work. I found I had to add a file in the folder and I could select the folder for syncing my stats.
