Can anyone at MR recommend this series. There's a member of our household that is into Sci-fi Military, especially serials. (Plus I get to read them when they're done.)

Is this just JAG in space (military lawyer proceedings etc.), or are there real spaceship battles and royal houses and strange aliens to deal with and cool but strange characters with odd sounding names????

Please let me know, so that I can get this bundle for someone dear before the time limit is over.

I haven't read it, but you can click on any book's name and then "Sample Chapters" to read first chapters. You can also check out Amazon reviews, e.g. this one.

Thanks for the link Gibbo. More 'so-so' reviews than 'really like' ones, but quite a few stars. I'll think on it a while and read a few more of the reviews before I decide to buy.

I've read the "JAG in Space" books and I found them to be quite entertaining. It's neat to see a setting where space battle drama is contrasted by courtroom drama—and since the author himself has the sort of naval legal training that his protagonist takes, it adds to the verisimilitude of the proceedings.

I'd wanted to read the Stark's War books for some time but hadn't been able to find them. I bought that bundle right away.

(Also, I've met Hemry in person. He's a nice guy.)

That word is hard to read in sans-serif variable-width font. All I see is:

It may be the literary equivalent of washboarding.

For 7 ebooks for $30 I decided to just buy the package and hope for the best. I'm nearly finished with the first book in the JAG series and Hemry has become a favorite author. Based on the 85% of the first book I have read by Hemry, I'd say you have nothing to lose.

With a saving of only $5 vs buying the books individually, I think I'll wait and just get the first book in the series to see what it's like.

I've got the Pournelle Continuum in my shopping cart atm. $20 for 10 books, that's much better value as a pack than individually, and worth taking a chance on an author I've not read before, samples seemed interesting enough though

To note, the first four books in Hemry's Lost Fleet series (written under the name of Jack Campbell) are available on Fictionwise.com for a few bucks each. (Books 2, 3, and 4 are in eReader or Mobipocket; Book 1 is in Mobipocket-only, but Steve Pendergrast has put in a request for the source for the first one so they can get it up in eReader form.) After reading the Stark's War books, having already read the JAG-in-space books, I immediately zipped over to Fictionwise and blew some of my Micropay there. Good, good stuff. I can't wait for May when book 5 comes out.
