Problems again Kobo Libra 2 & Calibre
Hello again and good evening...
After a few days working as a charm my device connection with Calibre is again giving me problems. I am onto Calibre 7.2 last version and with last Kobo firmware, in Calibre I use all the kobo related plugins. Now when I connect the reader to the computer (windows 11), Calibre launch the message of "communication error with the device" and the following log: calibre, version 7.2.0 ERROR: Error: Error en la comunicación con el dispositivo CorruptError: database disk image is malformed Traceback (most recent call last): File "calibre\gui2\device.py", line 104, in run File "calibre\gui2\device.py", line 558, in _books File "calibre\devices\kobo\driver.py", line 2028, in books File "C:\t\t\apsw-42s16m2x\src\cursor.c", line 240, in resetcursor apsw.CorruptError: CorruptError: database disk image is malformed Still I can send files from Calibre to my Kobo but they don't last marked as transfered. Another question is if there is any difference between epub and kobo epub formats, as since i installed the plugins the ebooks they have been transfered in that format (kobo epub). I normally only modify the ebooks i download (cover, publisher...) I do not convert the epubs through calibre as i don't see any adventages doing it. Thanks in advance for your help! |

As to the differences between epub and kepub, you already asked it and it was discussed in this thread:

The only reliable workaround I've found so far is to install NickelMenu and use it to trigger a reboot before an USB connection. Kobo is aware of the issue and there should be a firmware update Real Soon Now (he says hopefully) that will fix the issue.

I'm getting the same thing on my Kobo H2O

Sign out, sign back in. Reboot your Kobo before doing an USB connect until the next firmware revision is available.

From Home or My Books, tap on the More menu. Tap on Settings => Accounts. Tap on Sign out by your Kobo account.

Ok, so now after sign out sign in, calibre seems to behauvior normally once conected to the kobo and everything syncronize just fine but... now in the ebook under ebooks catalogue it shows mixed up all system files along with the ebooks.

That would suggest that you or a add-on for your Kobo had modified the ExcludeSyncFolders option in the 'Kobo eReader.conf' file (you'll find it in the .kobo/Kobo directory under the [FeatureSettings] header.
One gotcha is that if you change this setting, any newly excluded files will be removed. Code:
[FeatureSettings] ExcludeSyncFolders=\\.(?!kobo|adobe).*? |

well i guess also that if i make a factory reset to my kobo that will also solve the problem...
About content i am not worried as i have all my ebooks in calibre and i can transfer them back |

That should close the KePub connection to the database and going to the home screen should close any open ePub connection to the database. |

For everyone reading this thread who does not do this, setup the Kobo Utilities plugin to backup the database when you connect to your calibre library. I have mine set to backup once a day. So it backups only once in any day I connect to calibre.
Then if you do get a corrupt database, just restore the last backup database and reboot. |

I have no epubs on my Sage, only kepubs. And that would still be too much work. I'll just stay on 4.34 until the issue is fixed.
