Preserving Custom Column Metadata
Hi - I upgraded my computer and had to download a new version of calibre. I imported my old library, but lost the data in my custom columns - specifically whether I had read the book or not. Is there a way to preserve this data in case I ever have to do this again? I'm not seeing any way to add custom column data to the metadata files to make it move with the book next time. Or is there a different solution? Thanks

Unfortunately, I couldn't get Calibre to recognize the old library. I tried several different things. Pointing it to the old library. Moving everything from the old library to the new location. I eventually thought I got it working, but instead Calibre did this really weird thing where it made a new folder for each book and then said it couldn't find the book, since the epub or mobi files were in the old folders. Eventually I gave up and just imported the books again. That's why I'd like to figure out how to save the read/unread data with each book, if possible.

I have no way of knowing what happened, but if you want a relatively foolproof way to do this, use the export/import function https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...ter-to-another
