Kobo Aura One - Internal SD Card Issue?
I have had a Kobo Aura One for several years. I use ebooks for Overdrive library borrowing and also along with Calibre and book files I have saved. I don't really use the Rakutan store.
Anyways, everything with Overdrive and library borrowing is still working perfectly. Calibre recognizes my device and I can send files TO the Aura One. However, Calibre cannot access my library. Also, on my desktop I can see the file structure of books sent to/saved on the Calibre but can't copy or delete them. Running a disk repair check just freezes everything and never progresses. When I do the full factory reset on my Kobo everything with Overdrive still works great. But nothing gets fixed with the database for using Calibre and Windows Explorer. Does this mean the SD card installed internally is failing? Can I or a repair place put in a new SD card. Does it need to be formatted or installed in a particular way or will the hard factory restart fix it right up? Thanks for your help. I bought this Kobo for $250 and had it shipped from Canada and have accessories for it and am motivated to keep it working. Right now it only really does 1/2 of what I want it to do. Thanks. |

Bumping up. Has anyone had this issue? When I message the company they say they don't do any repairs/renewals. I think it's crazy they sell devices that can have such long lifespans but won't help repair them. I don't like the design of the current line.

For what it's may be worth, the Kobo Aura One does not have an internal µSD card. It uses an eMMC device. Considering the operating system and other functions such as OverDrive use that same chip, it is unlikely to have failed. I would be more suspicious of your USB connection to the device such as the USB socket and/or cable having issues. I would suggest testing with different USB cables and computers.
