Question about TOC

Hello,

I've got a question about generating TOC. I have a book which has something like this:

Code:

<h1>Title</h1>
<h3>Author</h3>

Is there any automatic way for TOC entries to look like Title - Author?

Build a title= \1-\2 using regex into the H1 (or H3 excluding H1 from the TOC ?

As h1 and h3 are shown, I've created a new h4, which doesn't appear in the text (display: none), and goes inside the toc.

I have tried to solve this problem but never got it right.
Now works perfectly.

My personal preference is to add a title="blah de blah" to one of the header tags and then limit the ToC generation to that tag.

That is for the original example:

Code:

<h1>Title</h1>
<h3>Author</h3>

Search would be for:

Code:

<h1>(.*?)<h1>
<h3>(.*?)</h3>

the output would be:

Code:

<h1 title="\1 - \2">\1<h1>
<h3>\2</h3>

and I would restrict the ToC entries to h1.

A last question. How do you include the title in the toc instead of the content of the h1?

Answer: Mark checkbox: Use title from headers (I should have read before asking)

??? I thought it did that automagically if there was a title=

Sigil does that. You are correct, There is a Tick box in Calibre's TOC tool
