Scribe Screen Resolution?

It may be a silly question, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. All the reviews that I've found, and Amazon's webpage is just mentioning generic 300dpi, but I'm looking for actual x/y numbers.

Possibly 1860 x 2480 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon...Specifications

The 300 dpi is the resolution. The 1860 x 2480 is pixels. I know pixel count is often called "resolution", but separate from screen size it's not. A 5.1" would be be super high 600 dpi resolution. A 41" approx on the wall would be a very low 75 dpi resolution.

You'd only need to know the X & Y pixels to fit an image to the screen exactly 1:1, which no Kindle will easily let you do as they add quite large margins.

Actual eink panels in readers are approximately 150, 167, 223, 265 and 300 dpi. There is nothing "generic" about 300dpi. The eInk price labels in local shops seem much lower than 150 dpi as you can see jaggies on the diagonals.

Currently the Scribe is the only eink at 300 dpi in the 10″ size bracket.

I think your definition of "resolution" for a display is different then the standard. Resolution is the pixel count, DPI (or density) is something different. I think.

For example, for the tech spec for The Kobo Elipsa:

"Display: ... 227 PPI, 1404 x 1872 resolution with Dark Mode"

DPI may be what more people care about, but that does not make it the resolution.

Depends on if using historical definitions or "modern" since PC era definitions.

There are many different definitions of resolution. DPI or ppi is one and X and Y pixel count is a newer one (last 40 years) that was only useful when displays were all CRTS and about 75 to 100 dpi (96 dpi was assumed).
Quote:
Display resolution, the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed on a display device
Graphic display resolutions, a list of particular display resolutions
Distance resolution, the minimum distance that can be accurately measuredImage resolution, a measure of the amount of detail in an image
Optical resolution, the capability of an optical system to distinguish, find, or record details
Printing resolution*, the number of individual dots a printer can produce within a unit of distance (e.g., dots per inch)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resolution
* By analogy, Screen or panel (or really Display Resolution) is ppi, DPI or similar. 1920x1080 is the graphics resolution used for HDTV. It's not High Definition at 72" at 5' viewing distance. What is often called Display resolution is really Graphics Resolution.

I'm not denying people and advertising and specs commonly use "resolution" to apply to X & Y pixel count. The point I was making is that on it's own without a screen size it's not really a "resolution" in the mathematical or optical sense or comparative for image quality sense.

1860 x 2480 is the resolution of all built-in screensaver images inside the firmware binary from Amazon's page.

Thanks. It does appear to be 1860x2480. I tend to do my own covers of books that I have on my devices, so dpi is useless in that regard. Also, I find it weird that they're not advertising actual resolution on their device, it's noticeably larger than competition even today on 10'' market.

So in this case Wikipedia is probably correct.

That's not correct. BOOX Tab Ultra C and recently released BOOX Note Air 3 C both have Kaleido 3 screen with 300dpi B/W + 150dpi color at 10".

That's a different category and it's not a real 300 dpi B/W unless you scrape off the color filter. That's like claiming MS Cleartype really makes a 1024 x 768 stripe filter be 2048 x 768 (or better) for mono text. Mono text will be a bit apparently sharper but not even as as good as 265 dpi screens, maybe not as good as 223 dpi screens. It will be better than 150 dpi DXG, but only with frontlight, because the Kaleido 3 is a lot darker without it even than Pearl on an old Kindle. Not sure how it would compare with 167 dpi older Kindle Basic. Dimmer.
