Jailbreaked Kinde 11 updated to 5.16.2.
Hi all! I apologize for the stupid question.
I bought a used Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Gen.11, on which, as I understand it, there was a Jailbreak (KUAL program). Unfortunately, I did not have time to ask about the details, because. the seller was in a hurry. At the first connection to WiFi - the device was updated. The current firmware is 5.16.2.1 I understand that in this case, unfortunately, nothing can be done with the device? And it remains only to wait when / if a jailbreak comes out on a newer version? Or there is anything I can do to revert those changes? I would appreciate any information/advice. Thank you. |

The following helped:
Two files: 1) Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install.bin 2) Update_KUALBooklet_ff4134d_install.bin Dropped to mrpackages, after -> ;log mrpi in the search bar, and it worked! Now I can open KUAL and KOReader. That is, it turns out that Jailbreak was saved and it remained? Is it possible to block updates, and at the same time have access to the Internet (I sometimes send books to the device via Send to Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle)? Or do I need to roll back to an older version? Thank you! |

I have a KPW5 running on 5.14.1.1 However I dont see the otav3 otaupd file in the usr/bin folder. Will this renamingOTA work for my device?

Do you need 5.14.1.1 ? Have you considered downgrading? |

![]() I also have PW5 with firmware 5.14.1.1. And 2 ota binaries are definitely there. Don't get confused that grep command finds 4 matching files instead of 2, that is because I'm using a different version of that "rename OTA" KUAL extension that instead of just renaming binaries it also created shell scripts that just call /bin/true ![]() Last edited by shamanNS; 08-11-2023 at 04:57 AM. |

KOReader's SSH plugin is unmaintained and horribly outdated, don't use it unless you basically have no other choice (and you do, use USBNet's instead).
(Of particular mention, it doesn't support modern key formats, which leads to "fun" to debug issues). |

By... updating it.
Which involves dealing with the platform specific patches & testing on said platforms, which is a massive PITA when I'm already doing that for USBNetworking. And, of course, the patches are not compatible, because they need to be even more terribly hacky for KOReader. TL;DR: No. |
