Goodreads alternative?
I basically used it to track my progress and make short notes (can't see where to do that anymore), and for the reading challenge. It incentivized me to read. Especially when I'm seeing other people do it and their progress or talk about it. I have a hard time these days. I do like that you can sync your calibre library to it. Though I stopped using GR a while back and I don't like how it is now for multiple reasons.
I haven't really found other options so far. Saw someone elsewhere suggest to look for a services with an api. There were two that people told me have apis, which was incorrect, librarything turned theirs off, and storygraph never got one running. I tend to prefer web apps to regular android apps, just because there is that much more data collection involved. Does anyone have something they personally use that is not an advertisement? |

Check out Openreads on Android. No data collection and it is open source. You can add your own review / notes.

For goals/challenges, the new plugin Reading Goal can be useful.

You could go over to the Fediverse and join BookWyrm. One server that is a BookWyrm instance is https://ramblingreaders.org, for example. Or if you have a Mastodon account, you can follow BookWyrm accounts there. I don't use it myself, but I see it getting a lot of action.
Just don't expect anything in the Fediverse to act like the algorithm-driven apps from the big companies, it is literally a different world. |

Mastodon Fediverse is proper Internet instead of walled gardens run by Barons plastering you with adverts and stealing your content and personal behaviour/info. |
