Author Sort Issue

Hi I like my author name to display without comma as is 'enid blyton' display exactly same way i reset twek author sort to invert 'fn ln' but when it restarts caliber goes back to blyton, enid!!!! Why??????

Author sort has little to do with what displays in the Author column. If I recall correctly, you can use the Quality Check plugin to change LN, FN to FN LN which will change what displays.

Quality check is great for finding issues (in this case, Author Sort), Fix applies to the selected.

You can adjust Author Sort individually in Manage Authors. Usually this is done when the normal rule fails.
In the MDE, you can also set the sort FOR THAT TITLE. RED indicates that it does not match the Authors or rules (the right side has an icon to copy USING the rules.

Invert: use "fn ln" -> "ln, fn". Software is doing exactly what you have told, unless I had totally understood wrong what you wish. If you want "author" and "author_sort" the same, you have to use copy: copy author to author_sort without modification.

Hi Terisa Inot only want author and author sort to be identical but i want the author name to show fn and ln order as well? how do i achieve this??TIA

Did you try the Quality Check plugin?

DNSB i did try i now have identified the books they are less then 10 the thing is how to fix the issue!

Only 10 books? Select the books that have LN, FN for the author name, click on Quality Check, click on Fix, click on Swap Author FN LN <-> LN, FN and that should correct your issue with the Author field. In the left hand column, right click on Authors, click on Manage Authors, click on the Recalculate all author sort values.

I will say that for 10 books, it would have been faster to use the Edit metadata individually to change the Author to FN LN and then click on the icon to calculate the Author Sort.

Thanks it finally worked. I also as suggested by Terisa de Morgan changed author _sort to copy. Thanks guys
