Kobo Aura H2O water resistance

Hey, I just bought an Aura H2O but it's missing the rubber flap for the ports. Does that impact it's water resistance significantly, or is there a gasket on the inside of those ports as well?

Thank you

Basically, it's not waterproof without that flap sealed. There is no gasket on the inside of that area.

Thanks for the reply, that kinda sucks. That must have been a tight fitting cover to actually have made it ip67 resistant. I'll just keep it away from the water I guess.

The cover has a flexible gasket and a flexible captive "leg". Would have been better if the gasket had been on the inner edge and a hinged flap like on battery compartment of some radios I have.

You could cut a flap out of neoprene/rubber coating on a scrap hairdrier/tool etc and that would be some help from accidents.

Yeah I was actually thinking to use a bit of silicone to make a cap for the end but I guess i'll find out how easy that is. I have a sheet of rubber I could cut a piece from if I can make it fit, so that's an option too.

Either way it's not the end of the world, thanks.

tape over the back of slot and put Vaseline/petroleum jelly or silicone grease as release agent. Ordinary silicone rubber produces acid as it sets, but the electronics kind is harder to get. Hence cut piece of tape to be removed later. It does come in black, not just clear and white.
