Epub to pdf conversion page sizes wrong
Hi all, I've just migrated my Calibre configuration (options and books) from an old Windows 7 with Calibre 4 computer to a Windows 10 with Calibre 6 computer.
I tried to convert several epubs to pdfs and chosen as page size A4 (210 x 297 mm), but the output is always 215.9 x 279.4 mm for any book and I can't undersand why. ![]() Am I missing something or could it be a bug? |

Hi, no, A4.
Could it be a problem due to migration? I noticed that some settings were not kept in the new computer. I'll try with a fresh installation. |

this looks unusual, indeed.
another thing you may have already checked out is if the "Custom Size" field is blank, in PDF output |

Ok, I think something went wrong with migration, because with a fresh installation the problem doesn't happen.
However, I've discovered another odd thing: the problem happens only with new books added. If I convert from epub to pdf a book I've already add in my library, it is correctly converted with the right format A4. If I add a new epub and convert it to pdf, the page sizes are unexplainably forced to 215.9 x 279.4 mm. ![]() Last edited by Mr Wolf; 07-11-2023 at 03:44 AM. |

That will be because for existing books previous conversion settings are used. for new books the defaults you have set in Preferences->Conversion will be used. You have got that paper size set there.

Ok, I've checked that in my library, in the file metadata.db, there are the conversion settings of each book.
I think I've solved the problem replacing with the Calibre folder configuration from a fresh installation the folder configuration after migration. This to avoid to have to manually re-import all my books after a fresh installation. I'll check better if this really worked. By the way, in what file are the settings stored? In special way, the setting about page size in conversion? There are may files in that folder. Thanks for your support, btw. ![]() |

Today I found this file in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\calibre\conversion, named pdf_output.py.
It holds the default settings for Calibre conversion to PDF, and I noticed that any changes applied to it take effect instantly, for books that don't have specific settings stored in the library database. |

I checked that file, and, after migration, "paper_size" is set to "a4", but it gives me that problem.
However, the solution I tried (replacing configuration folder after migration with configuration folder from a fresh installation) seems to work. |
