Kobo Glo white screen,

Hello everyone, I've searched the forum it seems my problem hasn't been discussed,

I have kobo glo, it was working fine then I did factory reset from the setting menu to clear an existing account and install one new, however after that it got a freezing screen with some dots.

so I did clipper reset, and then manual reset(holding light button+power button) and followed instructions on the screen , but when choosing wifi it connects but gets back to time setting, so I chose the PC option through Kobo Desktop, then while following instructions on the PC app and after logging to my account on it I got 'internet access' error, and sync complete, but the ereader didn't seem to be reset yet as desktop app was stuck, so I ejected it when it was safe to do so but it got again this same problematic screen with the random dots.

and now even when I try to do that manual reset it doesn't work, so when I hit light button and then power button the screen blinks white and black then white and stays like this. I also tried to charge it for more than an hour in vain...

it seems the firmware update didn't go well through the desktop app or is the firmware problematic ? is there another way to reinstall the firmware because manual reset isn't working? Thank you

I managed to make manual reset work after trying many times, howver in Kobo desktop app, in the process of installing the firmware, I still get the error :> oops something happened to your internet connection, try again, but internet is working fine and I tried another wifi same issue

Do you tried to put the firmware manually ?
Get the lastest firmware here : https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html
Plug the kobo and put it in .kobo dir

As glo is an old one, the "factory" certificates are out of date and may cause a problem

If your Kobo Glo has not had 4.35 or later installed, you will need to do a setup using Kobo Desktop.

Why? Won't manual copy of unpacked zip to USB mounted .kobo work?

It won't work if you are resetting your Kobo. You would have to set it up using Kobo Desktop. That's why you need 4.35 or later in order to be able to do a setup with WiFi.

@ouzal reset his Kobo. So if he did not have 4.35 or later, then Kobo Desktop will be needed to set it up.

I think if you select "no WiFi Available" though it tells you to use the Kobo Desktop I think it will then expose USB Storage. But I'm not 100% sure.
Or you need to reset while connected to USB?

thank you I it worked. it seems there was a problem with the firmware after I did te factory reset. now as you suggested I installed an old firmware from the list into the .kobo file, then I updated the Kobo via wifi to the latest firmware.
