Send-to-Kindle Win Update Killed .epub
My send to Kindle app updated yesterday. Now I am getting "File Type Not Supported" when I try to send an .epub. I uninstalled, rebooted, installed the last version (1.1.0.253) and it is still rejecting .epub file types. It lets me send .mobi files with no complaints.
No idea what is going on or how to resolve it. |

Its like something corrupted my registry(?) ??? |

That's odd. My Send-to-Kindle for Mac updated to 1.1.1.255 two days ago and it still works with epub.
Are you sure 1.1.0.253 is the latest version for Windows? |

According the the signature in my download of the Sent to Kindle app for Windows, it should match the Mac's version 1.1.1.255.

Killed my "send to Kindle" for EPUB for me also. Verified, downloaded version 1.1.1.255 today broke my stuff!
This one does not spark joy. |

Rather odd. I just installed 1.1.1.255, registered it, dropped a couple of epubs on it and they showed up on the specified device and in my Content and Devices => Docs.

As a follow-up yes it was the 1.1.1.255 update that broke my WINDOWS send-to-kindle. I can send the same files via the web version (which is actually kinda well done) and email. Unfortunately I didn't have the nice uninstall utility so when tried to go back to 1.1.0.253 it was still broken. I suspect they screwed up a registry key that indicates valid file types because the app doesn't even really run--it just pops up a dialog and terminates. I spent a very painful 30 minutes on chat explaining to "support" how their apps work and they said they filed a "ticket with engineering" which I actually wrote for them. Resolved in 7 days said my fine Amazon representative.
When I get a chance I am going to go into the registry and manually clean out the keys and then reinstall the old version. Or maybe I should buy the Revo utility because it does have a good rep (as demonstrated here) of cleaning things up. Last edited by johnelle; 05-19-2023 at 05:21 AM. |

No joy...guess I'll be using the Web for now
In spite of renewing IObit uninstall and subscribing to Revo uninstall I am unable to get 253 working. So I guess its the web for me. As most of you know the email connection is limited to max email size which for gmail is ~20mb. The "send to" apps can handle 50MB.
BTW Revo did a much more complete job of cleaning up the registry. |

How odd. I believe DNSB is on Windows and 1.1.1.255 worked for him.

Correct. One difference is that this is the first time I've installed Send to Kindle. For my purposes, calibre works just fine. My Paperwhite and the various Kindle apps are for testing on books that I've been involved with cleaning up since my Kobo ereaders are my personal choice in reading devices.

I upgraded from Send to Kindle 1.1.0.254 to 1.1.1.255 on Windows 11 today and it worked properly with no problems after the update.
