local HTML files (reading progress, add info for database)

Recently I am using a lot of html files that I generate on my mobile devices to read on the Kobo.
While generally the experience is quite nice (base64 encoded images, yeah) I am missing some functionality from other file types:

1. Reading progress: the reading progress is either 'unread' or '1% Read'. Happens with or without base encoded images (they bloat the html code, but that doesn't seem to mess up the calculation.)

2. Is it possible to add author/title to the header or elsewhere in the html file to be found by the internal database scraper?

Thanks!

You could package the HTML files as an EPUB in order to get things like reading progress to work, but that requires significantly more effort.

Thanks for the input! I was looking into that (JavaScript to generate XHTML on IOS) as well, unfortunately I did not succeed.
