Metadata stopped loading. Why?

About a month ago, all the metadata for my books stopped loading. I use an older version of Calibre and don't want to update because I'm concerned my DRM wouldn't work any more. (I run a large site for book reviews and I need to be able to take my copies and enable my reviewers to read them.)

Any ideas?

I'm going to assume that what you're doing is all legal. But if it's not, know that MR tends to frown on piracy and the like and make future posts with that in mind.

The NoDRM fork of DeDRM works on Calibre 6.x.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'stopped loading,' but if you mean on import, check Preferences > Adding Books > Reading metadata. Specifically the 'read metadata from file contents...' checkbox.

It's not legal unless whoever has the rights to these eBooks says it's OK to share with the other reviewers. I'm thinking it's not legal. Otherwise there would be no DRM.

I tend to agree with Jon. I don't remember seeing DRM on reviewer or ARC ebooks. I have never seen an author/publisher agree to have a review/ARC/beta reader copy re-distributed outside of their control.

OTOH, since the last post prior to this thread by loudab was in 2014, perhaps the account has been hijacked?
