Is Amazon still playing games with hi-res graphics?

Has anyone bought The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England by Brandon Sanderson from Amazon?

If so, are the graphics in hi-res or is Amazon still playing games where in most cases, you get lower-res graphics then you should? The ePub does have hi-res graphics and no games are being played there.

I wish they would build one next to me. I could then buy what I wanted. (Of course, being in Peru, it would still take 1-2 months to arrive. And that's not Amazon's fault.)

Actually, it's not possible for Amazon to build a warehouse next to me. Not even all that near to me.

So why do you want Amazon to build a warehouse near here?

In another thread (about Brandon Sanderson) it was revealed that Amazon was playing games with the hi-res graphics in one of his eBooks. This is a new eBook from Brandon Sanderson and I'm wondering if Amazon is still playing games with the graphics or not.

Amazon isn't playing games. They're trying to deliver appropriately sized and formatted graphics for the intended device.

I happen to agree that this is a bad idea (unless the intended device couldn't handle the full size image), but they not "playing games".

Read the following thread and you'll see that Amazon really is playing games with hi-res graphics. It starts were the relevant posts start,

Looking at numbers that make them feel they're not making a mistake?

You don't seriously think someone in an Amazon office is deciding to deliver ebooks with less-than-the best possible quality images in them just for sport do you?

Maybe. Someone somewhere at Amazon has decided that delivering hi-res graphics that we pay for is not going to happen.

You don't get it. Amazon is playing games. Did you read that thread I linked?

Your definition of "playing games" is clearly an alternative one.

Every bit of it. Something is clearly happening. But its not "games." Your well-documented anti-Kindle bias is causing you to use unnecessarily loaded language for topic-bait.

I am not a fan of Amazon's policy of reducing the size and quality of images delivered to Kindle devices. Doing that defeats the ability to zoom images to show details. As shown in the linked thread the algorithm used is overly aggressive and sometimes results in unreadable text in images that contain maps. I would be happier if Amazon prioritized quality over bandwidth and storage.

Image quality in books delivered to e-ink Kindle devices is generally lower than that delivered to other Kindle reading apps. While the linked thread demonstrates a particularly bad example of poor image quality in a book written by Brandon Sanderson I do not see any evidence that Amazon is specifically targeting books by that author.

I'm not saying Amazon is targeting Brandon Sanderson. It just happens because I saw this eBook at Overdrive and that it has hi-res graphics, it reminded me of the thread. I was wondering if Amazon changed their policy given other Kindle eBook changes. But it seems not.
