Jagged fonts in png within converted book

Hello,

I have converted a book (am I allowed to say from where, if that might be a factor) and tables in the book are png files when I explode the book that have text and lines that are jagged.

Probably not surprisingly, if I convert the EPUB to a pdf, I have the same jagged text and lines.

Is this something that I can potentially do something about? In fairness, the tables seem to have the same issue with the original file (pre-calibre) in the appropriate e-reader app.

No not in calibre. calibre has no facilities to improve source images.

Sounds like the original source files are low quality. The images would already have to be in high quality format, there's no way to change it without getting a better image of what you need.

Better option would be to recreate the tables using <table> code.
