Odd. I seem to vaguely remember the big deal for many people with using "Send to Kindle" was that your documents could be synced to any authorized device/app. Reading position, etc. was also synced.

Makes me wonder what has changed to make that a What's New entry.

I have never used K4PC and have never used amazon as a conduit for personal documents, but I vaguely recall complaints that K4PC doesn't support personal documents.

I have K4PC 1.40.1 (installed on 3/4/2023) and it is capable of downloading personal docs. It even has a banner on the Documents list that says "To import and read personal files on any device linked to your account, add them to your library using Send to Kindle" with a link to hte S2K web page.

It doesn't seem to sync reading position though. I just downloaded a file that's at 87% on my Paperwhite and it started at the beginning, so if the new version actually syncs reading position, that's an improvement.

"Easier library management"

IMO that is laughable. They made library management far far more difficult for me. This version doesn't display the total number of items or the number downloaded. It does not allow sorting by column in list mode.

Also I've seen two major problems: 1) it loads a book for reading quickly but EVERY other action is SUPER SUPER slow, 2) twice it came up with the menu bar at the top and the rest of the screen completely blank.

I have reinstalled 1.4 which worked far better.

PDFs are personal documents, but have never synced, even between Kindles.

non-PDF personal documents have always synced between Kindles and the Kindle mobile apps (iOS and Android) but I haven't used PC/Mac Kindle apps enough (since they added support for personal documents) to know if sync has or does work.

Cloud collection support seems new.

I tried 1.40 a while ago. File is bigger and slower. Have not tried 2.0 . Do send to files still show documents in this version or does it show cover? Only way to view document covers is to view offline.

Here are some observations after I upgraded to the latest Kindle for PC.

- Cloud Collections. Ugh. I used K4PC for cookbooks that I don't want on my e-ink Kindle and I liked grouping them in their own collections that didn't show up anywhere else. Now my collections list is all cluttered up with my Cloud collections. K4PC did keep my "Local Collections" but there's no way to hide the cloud collections or create any new local collections. There is a way to upload my local collections to the cloud, but I do not want to do that. So now I'm looking for a new app to manage my cookbooks.

- Sync for p-docs. I only tested Mobi files, not PDFs. This works if I use the "sync to furthest page read" feature in K4PC. It doesn't pop-up automatically the way it does on my e-ink Kindle.

- Cover image for p-docs. No. Even if they're downloaded they're still just the generic DOC icon.

- Filters. There are no filters within collections. At the library level you can filter by Downloaded, KindleUnlimited, Prime Reading and ComixologyUnlimited, but these filters are not avaialble when you're looking at a collection.
