PCs don't see eReaders

I have been using an eReader for 6 years without problems. A week ago I found out PCs (tried on 3 different ones) stopped seeing eReader.

Last successful connection was two months ago.
Last synchronisation 6 years ago.

Factory reset did't help.

While trying to reset one of the reader i ende up in the menu.
One option is to use WiFi (eReader does't connect to it, says there's an error).
The other option is to connect it via cable, but PC doesn't see it.

What is my next move?

What model is it? You can reset manually but we need to know what model it is.

If your eReader only has a power nutton it seems like the process is
1. Make sure it's charged
2. Hold the power button until it says "Powered off" or something like that. Let go of the power button.
3. Once again, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds and there should be a "reset" appearing on screen

If you have amodel with other buttons as well (like for example my Aura HD) it's a slightly different process. So, once again, let us know what model you have!

There're small holes on the back of those readers for resetting (pressed with needle). Didn't help.

You say you have tried three different PC:s. But have you tried different cables?
If two readers and three computers develops the same problem at the same time it leads me to believe there's a third factor involved. Like the cable.

I used two cables.
Charging works fine.

Gonna find another cable and give it a try.

That is only a forced reboot, not a factory reset.

What was the error when you tried to connect to wifi? What sort of wifi network is it?

If you can, setup a guest account with no protection and see if either Kobo connects.

Plug your device into the PC and navigate to "This PC" (MTP devices sometimes dont show up as drives and are listed in "This PC".

If device is not visible as a drive or in "This PC" then re-install your PC's chipset driver. Then; connect your device to PC, does it auto detect the device with a status bar advisory "what do you want to do with this device", If not then go to "This PC" again, If not visible then go to Device manager and see if there's a problem there.

If nothing works try your device on a friends PC, Mac, Android, Linux, or Windows, does it show there ?, If yes, great, take friends PC home with you :-)
