Backing Up Collections etc
Don't know if you will be able to help me from this message?
I have a Kobo Libre 2 which I absolutely love and had owned for about 16 months. Recently, when using the beta Web browser to download books from my email, I have begun to experience the reader freezing and the suddenly going dark and the light on the case flashing in and off. So I find I need to hold the power button for the 15 seconds to power down the device, then hold the power button for a second to wake it up. I get the light flashing on the case maybe for upto 30 seconds before the dots appear on the screen and the device finally wakes up. I have read this might be an issue with corrupted firmware and I probably need to factory reset the reader??? My question is this, as I have a very large library caringly created over many months with lots of different collections, is there any way to back up the structure of these collections without losing them when the device is reset? It would take me hours to screenshot the collections to try and manually rebuild them following a reset... Hope my situation makes sense and I really hope you can offer me some advice on the freezing and also on if it is possible to back up the collection lists. I assume I might need to back up the whole device onto my external hard drive and just restore is the same way? Does all the info for collections etc 'live' in the KoboReader.sqlite file? Thank you and I hope to hear back from you as soon as possible Kindest regards David |

If you use Calibre, then that's the easiest way to create and manage collections. It's fully automatic, meaning that even if you lose the collections on your Kobo, it will be enough to connect it to Calibre and all collections will be automatically recreated. No manual work whatsoever and no other backup needed.

And if you don't use Calibre, give it a go. It makes managing your Kobo so much easier. And use your computer to download from e-mail, put the eBooks in Calibre, and then from there side load.
