Spell check issue: Misspelled Words twice if at end of sentence
Hi,
I am using Sigil 1.9.20 on macOs 13.2. Cant see that this has been already reported. Misspelled words at the end of a sentence are listed separatly in the spellcheck window. In the attached example xfoobar is listed twice: 1) normally "xfoobar" 2) having the trailing dot at the end "xfoobar." >>Angora |

No, as explained in earlier posts on this site when this feature was added to Sigil, the hunspell dictionary now used by Sigil supports correct spell checking of abbreviations, such as Mr., Mrs., etc. and others. To do that it will include a period in a string of unknown characters as part of the "word" to be checked.
If you do not like this behaviour, simply install your own hunspell en-US dictionary. These are free and can be downloaded from a number of sites including OpenOffice, LibreOffice and the hunspell project itself. You can install it in your Sigil Preferences directory hunspell dictionaries folder and it will override the version that comes with Sigil and it will stay across Sigil upgrades. |
