epub3 with mathML / mathjax
Hi,
I have a book in epub3 format with what I think mathML mathematical script. Is there a way to read it on my android tablet? If not is there a way to convert it to pdf. I have tried calibre. Calibre renders it superbly with mathjax in its reader, but whey I try to print it or convert it seems that it does not use mathjax to render the mathematical script making the pdf the same as reading without mathjax. perhaps my settings are off but I found no infromation in the manual about turning mathjax on for pdf converstion. So right now I'm at a loss about what to do and I'm open for all suggestions. |

Very few apps and almost no ereaders fully support epub3. I never use epub3, so I've not tested any of these:
Readium on Android and maybe a readium plug-in for Chrome Most recent version of Adobe Digital Editions (Maybe iOS, Android and Windows?). Earlier versions are epub2 only. ASTRI-Bee on Android Infinity on Android SkyEpub Gyan ePub Reader Apparently many supposedly epub3 apps don't do fixed layout or are still beta. You can also try conversion to kepub and the kobo app for android (with regular epub it uses an old ADE). |

FYI: The Gitden Reader or the Readium R2 reader might be a good choice for Android, the Bluefire Reader for iOS, and the Thorium Reader for Linux, Windows, and MacOS Desktops.

Koreader supports MathML. So does Adobe digital editions. Pocketbook doesn't support MathML. Lots of apps and readers pick and choose what part of the spec they implement so some do things like vertical writing but don't do MathML, some do MathML but don't do vertical writing, most leave out the media bits.

Thorium is the reference epub reader, try if it works for mathML.

Thorium handles mathml but Thorium is a Desktop reader not a mobile Android reader as the op requested. The same people creating Thorium have a related Readium R2 reader that does have an Android installable package. Even older Readium R1 based e-reader works with mathml.

MapleRead is another iOS app that works well with epub3 books as well (at least, popup footnotes are supported) |
