Suddenly can't add book to Calibre

I've added books to my Calibre library in the past but I'm getting an error message today. I tried 2 different epub files but get the following error message. I added a book just a few days ago with no problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is metadata.db flagged as read-only?

If not, where is the library folder kept? Issues often arise when using a NAS or stored in Dropbox.

Look at the bottom line on that message. READ ONLY (library)
What OS?

Do not run with the Library on a Networked drive, NAS ...

If you restored from CD/DVD, the Library needs to have the access restored to RW (those media are read only)

Your A/V is being very helpful

For some reason, everything is back to normal and it is working fine. I have no idea what happened but I'm glad it's fixed. Thank you both for giving me some advice on what to do.
